TCU : RE-CODE Hard Mode solo guide

Loadouts, wave 12 GMAN 3.0 burst rules, wave 15 DJ Toilet routes, and when upgraded titans skip the pain.

Hard Mode

Hard Mode is the first Toilet Collapsed Universe playlist that punishes soft loadouts. The structure stays at fifteen waves, but boss density and summon spam separate casual Medium farmers from players who can finish solo. This guide assumes legacy TCU on Roblox while TCU : RE-CODE remains upcoming. Nothing here claims Recode Hard Mode is live.

If you still struggle on Easy or Medium payouts, return to How to Play and Getting Started. Controls for burst windows are on Controls.

Solo loadout requirements

Hard Mode solo wants both a strong playable and a strong partner:

SlotStrong examplesWhy
PlayableAstro Polycephaly, upgraded ETVRaw damage and survivability to delete GMAN 3.0 fast
PartnerChief Camera, Camerawoman 3.0Stable DPS while you reposition or cast

Astro Polycephaly is especially attractive because Recode messaging says that playable is saved across the partial wipe — see Astro Poly and Recode migration. Camerawoman 3.0 is a badge partner you unlock through the Plungerman / Alpha Hills route in How to Get Units. Chief Camera is the premium Camera partner when you have the pulls.

Avoid entering Hard with a random Standard banner Common and a default lobby partner. Redeem codes first so you can afford Verdict of the Void or Vigilance Ascendant pulls at 120 Resources each.

Pre-fight checklist

  1. Redeem live codes in Menu → Config (how to redeem).
  2. Queue Casual or Private Hard — Private if you want zero lobby noise.
  3. Confirm partner spawn before wave 1 toilets reach you.
  4. Locate Titan Protocol at the center golden toilet early, but do not summon out of panic.
  5. Keep ?end ready if a wave 12 attempt fails and you want a fast reset.
  6. Decide before queue whether you will play the pure skill route or the upgraded-titan skip route.

Waves 1–11: conserve, do not flex

Early Hard waves exist to drain cooldowns and titan patience. Clear trash with partner help. Use short specials only. Save ultimates for wave 12. If you must summon a titan before 12, pick a disposable pickup you can afford to lose forever for that match — remember one of each titan and no resummon after death.

Farm Materials and comfort here, not highlight-reel plays. Watch laser and rocket telegraphs the same way you practiced on Medium.

Wave 12 — GMAN 3.0

Kill GMAN 3.0 quickly. If he lives, he spams summons that bury solo players. Wave 12 is a DPS check more than a marathon.

Open with partner focus fire, dump playable specials, then ultimate. If you pre-planned a titan for this wall, summon it at the start of the wave, not after the first summon add already exists. Mobile players on limited UTCM buttons (Stomp, Dash, Flash Cannon) should commit Flash Cannon early in the burst rather than saving it for a perfect moment that never arrives.

Failure mode: poking GMAN, dodging forever, and letting the arena fill. Reset with ?end and try again rather than bleeding ten minutes into a doomed wave 13.

Waves 13–14 — stabilize

If wave 12 succeeded, you are probably low on cooldowns. Play safe. Let the partner tank space. Drink whatever heal or shield tools your playable still has. Re-center near Protocol only if you still hold an unused titan for wave 15.

Wave 15 — Gman 3.0 + DJ Toilet + infected alt titans

Wave 15 stacks Gman 3.0, DJ Toilet, and infected alternate titans. Target priority matters:

  1. Delete the most dangerous summoner first based on your damage type — usually keep Gman from recreating the wave 12 nightmare.
  2. Break infected titans before they corner you against map geometry.
  3. Manage DJ Toilet carefully. If DJ dies last, Astro Entrapper can appear. That extra spawn is a common wipe after players think the clear is free.

When possible, arrange kill order so DJ is not the final target unless you are ready for Astro Entrapper. Call the plan even in solo — muscle memory helps under audio spam.

Upgraded titan skip route

Fully upgraded titans can solo pieces of Hard Mode and skip the ugliest human routing. If your Protocol roster is built out, you may ignore parts of the wave 15 micro and simply overwhelm the arena. That strategy is valid on legacy TCU.

Caveats:

  • Dead titans still cannot be resummoned until the match ends.
  • Titan Trio glory does not transfer into Recode.
  • Other upgraded titans are not restored 1:1; compensation is planned, not identical inventory.
  • Spending every Resource on titan upgrades purely for Recode prep is a bad trade — spend for clears you want now.

Compare options on the titans tier list and the Titan Trio page before you commit.

After your first Hard clear

Bank the Resources and Toilet Souls. Consider Boss Rush (27–28 waves, ~600 Resources) only when wave 15 feels consistent — Boss Rush adds DJ Mech and G MAN V4 on top of earlier G-Man tiers. Denver / Invasion remains a separate skill ceiling for G-Squad shop unlocks; do not treat a Hard clear as automatic Denver readiness.

Spend Resources on partners and playables you still lack before vanity. Use the resource planner if you are splitting currency between banners and UTCM upgrades (UTCM). Keep an eye on updates in case Hard spawn tables shift before Recode.

Common mistakes

  • Entering with a weak partner because the playable looked cool
  • Summoning your best titan on wave 5 for fun
  • Slow-playing wave 12 and drowning in summons
  • Killing DJ Toilet last without Entrapper prep
  • Ignoring Camerawoman 3.0 / Chief Camera grind paths
  • Assuming Recode will preserve every titan upgrade

Optional scripts such as auto farm will not teach wave 12 burst timing. Learn the fight; automate later only if you accept the risks in executor setup.

For broader mode context return to the guides hub. For official clarifications use Trello and Discord discord.gg/toiletcollapseduniverse. Hard Mode is beatable solo with Astro Polycephaly or upgraded ETV plus Chief Camera or Camerawoman 3.0 — burst wave 12, respect wave 15 kill order, and keep titans as deliberate tools rather than panic buttons.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for TCU : RE-CODE players.

What loadout should I use for solo Hard Mode?

A strong playable such as Astro Polycephaly or upgraded ETV plus a strong partner such as Chief Camera or Camerawoman 3.0.

Why do I keep failing wave 12?

GMAN 3.0 must die fast. If he lives he spams summons. Dump burst immediately instead of poking.

What happens if DJ Toilet dies last on wave 15?

Astro Entrapper can spawn. Plan kill order so you are ready for that extra fight.

Can titans skip Hard Mode pain?

Upgraded titans can solo parts of the route and skip nasty patterns, but dead titans cannot be resummoned and Recode will not keep upgrades 1:1.
